Fiction break!

Some of you may already know I wrote a novel — a thriller called Paradise Falls. I wrote it month by month for Coffee House Writers, and my editors there helped me shape and hone it — for which I will be forever grateful!

From there, I beefed up my word count thanks to some incredible suggestions from another editor, and now I'm ready to publish it!

So, without further ado, Paradise Falls will be available for purchase on May 13, 2025!!! 🤩

Synopsis:

How to handle unpredictability

If you make your living as a freelancer, you are no stranger to unpredictability. One week, you’re booked solid and turning down projects. The next? Crickets. Emails go unread. Editors ghost you. A “quick turnaround” assignment suddenly needs two rounds of revisions on a Sunday night. (Which, hey, boundaries…)

It can be a lot, but over time, I’ve learned to stop fighting the chaos and start planning on it by:

• building extra padding into my deadlines when I can

• keeping a running list of pitching ideas so I’m not scrambling during the quiet weeks

• trying to keep a little financial buffer stashed away—just in case a client pays late or a gig falls through.

I’m also learning to ride the wave instead of panicking every time things slow down. (She says so confidently)

At the end of the day, freelancing is unpredictable—but it’s also flexible, freeing, and full of possibility. And for me? That trade-off is worth it.
