Where the sources are hidingWe writers want to share only truth, right? But sometimes it’s hard to know what’s true, especially in the ever-shifting world of medical discovery and health advice. During COVID, I saw a lot of “information” being shared that had no business existing. And now that we know just how much readers are willing to believe, health writers have to be über careful to source only the most reputable medical knowledge. When I write a health article, I try to stick to primary sources. That means I shy away from citing health publications like Healthline, Medical News Today, or Everyday Health. (Even though I write for the last one, and know the rigorous medical review applied to each article!) Instead, I look for sources from government, well-established medical centers, and original research. Here are some of my favs: If you’re working on a specific topic like pregnancy, you can look to national associations like the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists for up-to-date info.
